About the Festival of Education
Where those who inspire find their own inspiration.
Where those who inspire find their own inspiration.
The Festival of Education is dedicated to inspiring and empowering educators from all sectors. Our mission is to provide an inclusive platform for sharing innovative ideas, fostering meaningful discussions, and promoting professional growth in a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere.
We aim to cultivate a community where diverse perspectives are valued, and challenging debates are conducted with respect and professionalism. By bringing together passionate individuals dedicated to enhancing education, we strive to shape the future of learning and teaching.
The Festival of Education was founded by Wellington College Education in the UK in 2010, with a mission to create a vibrant platform where educators could come together to share ideas, spark innovation, and be inspired. Since then, it has grown into one of the UK’s most respected and anticipated education events.
In 2023, the Festival made its debut in the United States, with the first USA Festival of Education taking place at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland. Over three successful years, St. Andrew’s played a pivotal role in establishing the Festival’s presence in the USA, welcoming hundreds of educators and helping lay the foundations for a growing national community.
Now, in its fourth year, the Festival enters a new chapter as it relocates to The British International School of Washington – marking the launch of the Washington, D.C. Festival of Education. This evolution builds on the momentum and success of the last three years while embracing a new home in the heart of the nation’s capital.
Organised by EducationScape and supported by Wellington College Education, the Washington, D.C. Festival of Education continues the tradition of bringing educators together in an inclusive, dynamic, and inspiring environment, where those who inspire come to be inspired.
It’s more than just an event; it’s a festival that combines amazing professional development with a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Attendees can engage in meaningful discussions, gain new insights, and network in a vibrant, supportive setting.
At the Festival of Education, we foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere with no political affiliation or ideology. Our guiding philosophy is to listen to others’ ideas and challenge disagreements in a professional and respectful manner.
Join us to experience this unique blend of learning and community.
We are delighted to partner with the British International School of Washington (BISW) as the new host of the Washington, D.C. Festival of Education.
Situated in the heart of Georgetown on Wisconsin Avenue, BISW is woven into one of Washington, D.C.’s most historic neighbourhoods – a fitting backdrop for a Festival rooted in dialogue, ideas, and community. With a rich heritage dating back more than 25 years, the school brings together a truly international community, welcoming students and families representing more than 70 nationalities from across the nation’s capital.
As a long-standing part of Washington’s educational landscape, BISW offers a culturally diverse, globally minded environment – an ideal setting for bringing educators together from across the region and beyond.
During the Festival of Education, we will offer approximately 50 sessions, each lasting 50 minutes. These sessions range in format from large keynotes to smaller, hands-on workshops, covering a broad spectrum of topics and ideas.
